Joe Borreson Exceptionally wonderful acoustic tales, with some really unique musical turns, but with the cozy warmth of your favorite sweater. Give it a try, plus it goes to a great cause, from a clearly talented songwriter and winemaker, Scott. Favorite track: How I Heard It.

Consumption 03:02
I have been trying to bring you back Spells and witchcraft Chants and curses Invoking the secret names of powerful persons Nothing is off limits And no one is safe When the wind grabs ahold of your quiet escape I have been trying to give you life Poems and refrains Songs and motions Drinking the strong juice of powerful potions Sobering up means Forgetting your rhythms And seeing your skin for what it isn't And what it is
2.
The Trail 04:27
It is well with my soul Let's take The Trail It's prettier this time of night Don't you think? The way the light settles on the valley floor Not on the peaks The entire way back from Calistoga We drive and sing an old church hymn Unsure if we believe the words But it sounds so sweet Isn't it nice to look to the stars from on top of Howell Mountain Isn't it nice to look to the stars and still feel so small I pray that this feeling never starts feeling familiar For me or for you Sometimes the moon looks like a place that you can go to
3.
201 04:08
Off the highway at the Motel 6 In your blue dress The one that always was my favorite Of all the memories This is the one I just can't seem to forget From the parking lot Up the bright white stairs Opening up 201 My first and last time there Held on 'til 3 AM when you had to go Kissed you on the forehead Then you drove back home
4.
The organ in the chorus is much too loud The drums in Verse 2 quite the same The song is of course as good you said It's just not how I heard it in my head I meant to bring flowers I meant to be kind Sometimes I say things I regret I don't blame you for leaving after all that I said I swear it's not how I heard it in my head Each of one the songs that you sing Is about me when I'm lonely Isn't it?
5.
Calm Down 01:51
Why don't you calm down a little Breathe in and breathe out If it's as good as you say it is There's no way you know how It's not that I don't believe you It's just that I'm not quite sure why I do If I took the time to draw the line Connecting one to two Would that make it real Or just something else I learned to do Why don't you sit down a little Breathe in and breathe out
6.
Empty 03:35
Empty of all things that you expected You never thought it could turn out like this And you never know who you will become I never told it to anyone I know your story all too well But yours is not for me to tell
7.
Gold Ridge 03:01
Right before the moon goes down Before the day Before my old tired body Can wake from where it lay Before the sun comes over the mountain to stay A silver frost sits in the grass And all of my attention is cast Up on that Golden Ridge I dug a hole into the earth To see what lay beneath Hoping to find some secret The treasured treasure's key My hands were stained with topsoil But still I found no peace My home is not here on the ground The song I hear it does resound Up on that Golden Ridge
8.
Doxology 02:28
On a hot May Early evening Up the stairs to the second floor Up where you forget your manners Or at least you try While she shows off what you came for You will tremble all the same As she sleeps you swear you hear her Singing in the name Crammed under a clean white steeple Using words misunderstood At the cross you stare and stare You stare What a barren piece of wood Thought they shout up to the heavens Though they swear that it's why they came You are pretty sure that no one there Is singing in the name
9.
Mirror 02:08
Look at yourself through the eyes of someone who loves you You are light and love You are the proof of a dream fulfilled And a hope maintained The whole universe is contained in you.
10.
Unnamed 02:35
Is there a word for what I am? When you love him but you're just sure If you believe him? You don't agree with a few things that he says And you don't agree with a few things that he does Is there a word for what I am? When you know nothing But you can see everything And it's all confusing I see my need for a leader As I'm being led off a cliff I see my need for a real love But if And only if It overtakes me without taking me over
11.
There's a melody hanging softly But far away I had to strain my ear just to hear it So I followed it down the road And on down the highway Stopping wherever the sound seemed to make sense In a park in Minnesota At a desk in Illinois On a hike in Indiana I heard a lovely noise It was a wonderful distraction But distraction all the same On the path to where it sings I shall remain It seems that I've been singing along to wrong songs I don't know if you've heard But I'm learning the words to the right one now In the morning when you wake up When you read aloud in bed When your hands lift up another I hear it best Such a delicate position That I get so confused sometimes But to the study of your sound I am resigned It seems that I've been singing along to wrong songs I don't know if you've heard But I'm learning the words to the right one now

*100% of the proceeds of this record, for the remainder of 2018, will be given to victims and survivors of the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. After that, all proceeds will go to local community causes that fight for and aid women, the LGBTQ community, and those marginalized in our society due to the color of their skin, their legal status, or their heritage. As 'Baptist Girls' came out almost 7 years ago, this record is many years in the making, but feels very much like the record I needed to make right now. Some of the songs are actual meditations of mine as I have been figuring out how to keep my head straight in this crazy world.

Peace and Love to all,

Scott
